Grant Recipients Organizational Development Fund 2005:

 

Abington Art Center, $30,000

PCMI funds will support building capacity in public communication/public relations systems of the Abington Art Center. Elements of the project include engaging the services of a membership consultant to review and analyze current membership program components and identify new approaches; retaining a public relations firm to assist with increasing awareness of the center and conduct for staff training to increase internal capacity to manage this function.

Asian Arts Initiative, $60,000

PCMI funds will support the salary of the new staff position, Development Director. As the third senior staff position within the organization, the Development Director is intended to bring both financial and human resources to strengthen the management structure, broaden leadership within the organization, and build the foundation for long-term organizational resiliency and stability.

Bartram's Garden, $60,00

PCMI funds will support the salary of the new full-time staff position, Marketing Director. This will be the first position in the organization dedicated to the marketing and communications function and is concurrent with opportunities presented by the new public dock on the Schuykill River.

The Choral Arts Society, $20,00

PCMI funds will support the development and implementation of a sustainable, interactive website to better serve all of its stakeholders and mission. Choral Arts will integrate its website into the many aspects of its artistic, administrative and development programs to increase public awareness, concert attendance, contributed and earned income and the efficiency of operations.

Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, $60,000

PCMI funds will support the development of an Online Advocacy Action Center, an electronic tool that will improve the capacity to distribute advocacy messages quickly and in a way that maximizes citizen action. The Online Advocacy Action Center will enable the Cultural Alliance's government relations and policy staff to quickly research and communicate its positions on issues - speeding response time and providing a mechanism that reaches and serves the maximum number of people in the most informative way.

Philadelphia Folklore Project, $60,000

PCMI funds will support the salary of a new staff position, MembersÕ Services Coordinator. This new position will be responsible with improving the delivery of goods and services to members and non-members as well as strengthening the PFP membership base by increasing volunteer investment through a formalized volunteer program.

Philadelphia Live Arts Festival & Philly Fringe, $60,000

PCMI funds will support the salary of a new staff position, Development Associate. Working closely with the Development Director, the new associate position will enable the organization to keep the board informed, active and engaged; establish and implement consistent standards for donor recognition and fulfillment; and identify and cultivate potential new donors.

The Philadelphia Orchestra, $60,000

PCMI funds will support the hiring of the new position, Manager of Electronic Media. This new position will oversee the expansion of all electronic media projects as well as seek additional electronic media ventures (such as through the internet) for POA and its musicians.

Strings for Schools, $60,000

PCMI funds will partially support the salary of a new full-time, fully paid Development Director. This new hire would be a replacement for the current volunteer Development Director. The anticipated outcomes will represent the accomplishment of two challenges identified: 1) Transition from an organization reliant on professional volunteers to a paid professional staff and 2) Succession in leadership at both the staff and board levels.
