About PCMI
The Philadelphia Cultural Management Initiative (PCMI) offers access to knowledge and resources to strengthen the management and operations of cultural organizations in the five-county Philadelphia metropolitan area. Our resources are available for arts and cultural institutions to address their leadership, marketing, technological, financial, fundraising and strategic challenges and to build organizational skills and knowledge. Supported by The Pew Charitable Trusts and originally administered by the Drexel University Arts Administration Program, PCMI offers grants, training and knowledge designed to support and strengthen your infrastructure and systems to help you effectively deliver your mission and achieve your goals.
Mission
PCMI assists the local cultural community through a two-tier structure of programmatic resources and financial resources. All activities and programs stem from four goals:
- To help cultural organizations achieve their goals by providing opportunities for targeted management improvement both at the institutional and individual level;
- To stimulate and sustain "learning organizations" committed to continuous refinement through self-reflection and capacity building;
- To strengthen the Philadelphia cultural community by providing opportunities for learning, mentoring, and networking among cultural management professionals;
- To develop leadership, governance and management capacity by creating a range of learning opportunities that match the needs of the individual organization with appropriate resources to address those needs.

“Learning organizations are: …organizations where people continually expand their capacity to create the results they truly desire, where new and expansive patterns of thinking are nurtured, where collective aspiration is set free, and where people are continually learning to see the whole together.”
